Customer states that this active speaker (part of a pair) was cutting out during performance and felt it was overheating.
Despite the fan coming on, I was able to repeat the issue on the 1000W dummy load with a particularly bass-heavy piece of music driving fairly hard – the bass amp would cut out and kick back in repeatedly, whilst the tweeter output was still working.

I didn’t have the 2nd speaker to compare with (no issue with that one), however I was able to find some schematics online for a similar model (actually for a sub-bass unit) and gave some clues as to heat management.

I was able to add a resistor to an existing thermistor (R119?) to create an offset on the temperature sensing to bring in the fan at a slightly lower set point.

This was enough to fix the problem and was able to consistently drive to clipping without cutting out or getting hot.
Perhaps the original cause was a slightly out of spec component but given the lack of information or unit to compare with, this was the best achievable in the circumstances.
