The blue LEDs in this display will go extremely dim over time, this one was about 8 years old, and could hardly tell the difference when the red filter change light started coming on and when it was fully red (normally would have equal blue/red after about 5 months after reset and slowly dim out the blue until solid red for the coming weeks until 6 months is up).
Removed the display legend and panel (the melted posts to secure in place on rear were snipped – still seemed secure enough on reassembly, and seems to be pressed against the front panel ‘glass’ anyway, so can’t fall out).

Started with replacement of LD59 and LD60 (Filter blue LEDs) – LD59 was so burnt up it shattered on removal – its replacement was already in when below photo taken:

Then LD 43, 53 (Water) and LD 34 at top (sound symbol) removed:

After replacement before reassembly:

Showing the difference on testing – similar brightness to the temperatures now. The Ice Off LEDs 45 and 54 could have been replaced too but it wasn’t anywhere near as dim as the ones replaced which were barely lit – this photo was immediately after power up after being off for the replacement -9C looked a bit alarming but it only took 10 mins to get back to -18 / 3C, so probably weird temp sensor placement in door or something:

The 0805 LEDs used were a slightly bit fatter than the ones on the board so hopefully a bit more thermal mass or area to sink heat away – should last as long or longer than the originals, all being well 🙂
